Three insights from ServiceNow Nexus Risk & Security

In early March, we at Advania attended ServiceNow’s first Nexus event focused on risk and security in Amsterdam. Over two intensive days, customers, partners and experts from across EMEA gathered to discuss how you can reduce risk, strengthen security and work more efficiently.

Summary:

At ServiceNow Nexus in Amsterdam, experts came together to explore how risk and security are evolving. Here’s a quick overview of three clear directions: AI is becoming an integrated part of daily work, new regulations are driving change, and digital resilience is becoming essential for keeping your operations running during disruptions. You’ll also get a sense of how other organisations are starting to take a more unified approach to risk, security and business processes.

Interest in this area is growing, something we clearly see across many organisations today. From Advania, Niklas Chachalatos, David Vu, Fanny Ahlén, Karl Gidlund, Ignaz Fuesgen and Lovisa Hjorth attended, representing both Transformation Automation and Security.

Here are three insights we are taking with us.

1. AI is changing how you work with risk and security

AI, artificial intelligence, was a recurring theme throughout the event. Several sessions demonstrated how AI agents in ServiceNow can automate parts of risk and security processes.

This can include:

  • identifying risks faster
  • automating analysis and follow-up
  • prioritising incidents and actions

For many organisations, the next step is no longer whether to use AI, but how to integrate it into existing processes in a way that creates clear value.

2. Regulations are driving development forward

Many discussions focused on how to meet new regulatory requirements, such as:

  • DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act)
  • NIS2 (Network and Information Security Directive 2)
  • ISO 27001 (information security standard)
  • EU AI Act

The message was clear: organisations that succeed use regulations as a driver to improve ways of working and processes, rather than treating them as separate compliance initiatives.

3. Digital resilience is becoming increasingly important

A key concept highlighted during several sessions was operational resilience, meaning your organisation’s ability to continue operating even when unexpected disruptions occur.

This goes beyond IT security. You need to bring together:

  • people
  • processes
  • suppliers
  • technology

During the event, Advania’s Co-Managing Director Ignaz Fuesgen participated in a panel discussion on the topic, focusing on how you can gain better visibility into risks and manage disruptions in a more structured way.

“Risk management initiatives need to be more than an internal project. They should provide business insights that go beyond compliance and be anchored with stakeholders across the organisation.”
Ignaz Fuesgen, Advania

What this means for your organisation

The discussions at the event confirm a clear direction: risk, security and business processes need to be managed in a more integrated way.

When you bring together risk management, incident handling and compliance in a single platform, it becomes easier to:

  • gain visibility
  • work more proactively
  • meet regulatory requirements

This is where many organisations are today. Requirements are increasing, while ways of working are often still fragmented.

Platforms like ServiceNow show how you can bring risk management, incident handling and compliance together. This gives you better visibility and enables you to act faster and more proactively.
