Arcaero helps architects and developers design buildings that are safe, comfortable and resilient. A key part of its work involves advanced CFD simulations that model turbulent airflow around buildings and urban environments.
As a lean, international and fully remote company, Arcaero has relied on cloud-based high-performance computing (HPC) from the start. The team needed the transparency and flexibility to streamline its workflows and support its highly specialised simulation work.
An HPC environment built around the workflow
With Gompute, Arcaero gained a private HPC environment with direct command-line access. This enables the team to build, run and optimise its own processes and integrate the HPC environment with other parts of its workflow.
Arcaero can therefore benefit from much of the control associated with running its own HPC environment, without having to build and operate the infrastructure in-house.
From manual work to faster simulations
Greater control has enabled Arcaero to automate more of its work and run multiple simulations simultaneously or overnight. Tasks that previously took hours or even days to initiate can now be handled in minutes.
This frees up more time for engineers to focus on aerodynamic analysis and make better use of their specialist expertise. It has also made it easier for new team members to get up and running and contribute to client projects.
“Gompute has given us unparalleled control over how we run our simulations and build our pipelines. We’re now able to move faster, scale more efficiently, and continue to develop new processes that help us focus on our engineering work.”
Joe Osman, Director, Arcaero
Today, Arcaero has grown to a team of 15, with 10 regularly running simulations for clients. The next step is further automation, including an integration designed to automatically transfer CAD files for simulation.
