To support innovation in aerospace, access to scalable and reliable computing power is essential. When ITP Aero, a global leader in aeroengine design and manufacturing, needed to expand its high-performance computing (HPC) capacity, the company partnered with Gompute, now part of Advania Sweden.

As part of its research and development work, ITP Aero relies on advanced computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools throughout its design and validation processes. As project volumes increased, the need for additional HPC capacity became critical.

Delivering HPC tailored for advanced simulations

Advania, through Gompute, provided an HPC environment designed specifically for demanding CAE workloads. The solution is based on bare-metal infrastructure, optimized for performance and delivered ready to use with key applications preinstalled.

This setup enables engineers at ITP Aero to run complex simulations efficiently, including scenarios such as bird strikes and internal component failures using tools like Ansys LS-DYNA.

“We needed a solution that could support our most demanding simulations without adding complexity. The environment worked as expected from the start,” says Izei Catalina, Impact Specialist at ITP Aero.

Native graphical user interface (GUI) support also simplifies remote access, making it easier to manage simulations across teams and locations.

Balancing performance, reliability and cost

A key requirement was that the computing environment should perform consistently and align with internal benchmarks. The solution delivered by Advania met these expectations, providing stable and predictable performance.
“Several providers could meet our technical requirements, but this solution offered the best balance between performance, reliability and cost,” says Izei Catalina.

At the same time, the setup offers a cost-efficient balance between compute power, security and usability, making it possible to scale without unnecessary complexity.

A collaborative and flexible delivery

The collaboration has been characterized by close dialogue and a flexible approach to evolving requirements. Advania has worked closely with ITP Aero to ensure that the solution remains aligned with both technical needs and project timelines.
“The collaboration has worked smoothly. The team understood our needs and adapted quickly when requirements changed,” says Izei Catalina.

This combination of technical expertise and responsiveness has created a stable foundation for ongoing and future initiatives.

Enabling continued progress toward sustainable aviation

With access to scalable HPC resources, ITP Aero can accelerate its research and development efforts. This supports ongoing work to reduce CO₂ emissions and develop more efficient engine technologies.
